The police department within the Ministry of Public Administration and Security was officially launched from today and started working.

It is the first time in 31 years since the National Police Agency became independent in 1991 as an external agency of the Ministry of Interior.

Although it was formally installed under the minister, it seems that it will be operated directly under the minister.

The office was set up in the Government Complex Seoul.

Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min, who canceled the scheduled vacation and went to work today at the Seoul Government Complex, expressed his feelings that he was 'impressed'.

[Lee Sang-min / Minister of Public Administration and Security: The precious police department was launched today after many difficulties.

There is no career path, and there is only one police officer, a police for the people.] The

first director of the National Police Agency was Kim Soon-ho, a former non-police officer who served as the head of the National Police Agency's Security Investigation Division.

There is only one person from the police force out of the three departments, but there is also an analysis that the intention of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, which has been talking about 'police force reform', is reflected.

Inside and outside the police, concerns are continuing over the establishment of the Police Department in a swift manner, three months after Minister Lee Sang-min formed an advisory committee on improving the police system.

The Police Commission also held a press conference this morning and expressed regret that the police department was forced to proceed despite the illegality.
