Former Dongyang University professor Jeong Kyung-shim, who is serving a sentence after being convicted of corruption in the child's entrance exam and the use of undisclosed information, has applied for suspension of execution.



Professor Kyung-shim Jeong's lawyer said that Professor Jeong submitted an application for suspension of execution to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the afternoon of the 1st for reasons such as a ruptured disc and paralysis of the lower extremities.



Professor Jung's side said that Professor Jeong suffered several falls inside her detention center and suffered from back pain and paralysis of the lower extremities.



She later said that after her trial ended on July 22, she was diagnosed with a ruptured disc and needed urgent surgery.



Professor Jeong explained that the medical staff recommended that she need surgery or continuous conservative treatment.



On January 27, the Supreme Court sentenced former professor Jeong Kyung-shim to four years in prison, finding him guilty of corruption in the entrance exam for his children and the use of undisclosed information related to stocks.
