The National Solidarity for the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (Jeon Jang-yeon), who is holding a subway protest on the way to work to demand a budget for the rights of the disabled, posted a cartoon comparing the popularity of the drama 'Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo', which deals with autism spectrum disorder, with reality.

Jeon Jang-yeon posted a two-cut cartoon titled 'Different Reaction' on the official SNS today (26th).

The cartoon shows the back of a man watching the drama 'Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo' and saying, "People with disabilities should live together."

However, when the man sees a disabled person protesting on the subway, she is furious, saying, "Why are you blocking your way to work and you're going to be stuck at home?"

Jeon Jang-yeon said, "These days, a drama called 'Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo' is being aired because of its popularity. It's like dreaming of a world in which we live."

“However, after turning off the drama and returning to reality, when a disabled person protests on the subway on the way to work, the hearts of the people who watched the drama go nowhere,” he said. I did.

Then he asked, "Why is there such a different reaction? Does the voice of people with disabilities live together in the local community without being discriminated against in movement and labor in this society end together when the drama ends?" The sympathy I felt was that only sympathy and benevolence remained. Still, in your mind, people with disabilities are not equal."

Lastly, Jeon Jang-yeon said, "If what we want to say in the drama is that even the disabled want to live without discrimination and exclusion, we must do so in reality. If you want to change, you have to work with people with disabilities who are making changes in reality, beyond drama, and empathize with and participate in them.”
