La Poste Mobile was the victim of a computer attack on 4 July.
The telephone operator announced it in a press release.
"The administrative and management services of La Poste Mobile were victims, Monday, July 4, of a malicious virus of the ransomware type", recognized the operator, which has 1.8 million subscribers.
Ransomware is a malicious computer tool that can infect a company's network by encrypting data in such a way as to render it unusable.
To recover the use of this data, the victim must pay a ransom to obtain a decryption key.

Stolen personal data
The website and the customer area have been “temporarily unavailable”.
The attack was claimed by a Lockbit 3.0 group.
The hackers released three screenshots to prove their wrongdoing.

was able to consult, the group stole personal data from customers: surnames, first names, addresses, e-mails and telephone numbers.
The hackers threatened to make these files public if La Poste mobile did not pay the demanded ransom.

Like other hackers, the Russian-speaking group Lockbit 3.0 not only encrypts computer systems and demands a ransom, but also tries to monetize the recovered files, via a platform on the DarkNet.
This may interest the victim or possibly the competitors who may benefit from a client file.
These files can also be exploited for phishing campaigns.
