A hit and run criminal in his 70s, who had been on the run after causing a car accident in Jeju with unlicensed driving, was caught by the police.



Jeju Seogwipo Police Station announced today (11th) that they are investigating the arrest of a man in his 70s on charges of running away under the Act on Aggravated Punishment for Specific Crimes.



According to the police, A is charged with driving a car without a driver's license on a road in Donghong-dong, Seogwipo-si around 5:10 pm on the 4th of last month without a driver's license, collided with two vehicles waiting for a signal, inflicted minor injuries on two drivers, and then fled.



In order to avoid being pursued by the police, Mr. A continued his escape life by cutting off contact with people around him and moving his residence, but was arrested in Seogwipo City after about a month after being pursued by the police, such as undercover and vehicle wanted.



As a result of the police investigation, Mr. A was indicted for causing an unlicensed traffic accident in Seohong-dong, Seogwipo-si in April of last year and injuring the driver, but he was wanted because he continued to miss the trial.



It was confirmed that A's license was revoked for drunk driving in 2018.



The police have arrested A on charges of running away and are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
