Today (7th) around 10:17 a.m., a report was received from the fire department that the Hanlim-loaded offshore fishing boat A (49t), which was moored at Hallim Port, Hallim-eup, Jeju-si, caught fire.



According to the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters and Jeju Maritime Police Station, the fire moved to nearby Hanlim-loaded fishing boats B (49 tons) and C (39 tons), and a total of three fishing boats caught fire.



Immediately after the fire, three people were rescued from the surrounding sea and transported to the hospital, who suffered serious injuries including burns.



In addition, a search is underway to find a crew member whose whereabouts are unknown.



According to the Coast Guard and the fire department, there are currently two missing, and the exact number of people on board at the time of the fire is being determined.



An eyewitness said, "The fire broke out with a 'pop' sound."



At about 10:31 am, the fire department issued the first stage of response in which all personnel of the fire department in charge were dispatched, and the fire helicopter was dispatched to the site of Halla Mae Island.



The Coast Guard rescue team, six patrol boats, and coastal rescue boats were also dispatched to extinguish the fire.



The fire department said that they are working to extinguish the fire after moving the nearby ships to a safe place.



The city of Jeju warned residents in the vicinity to be careful about safety, saying, "A large amount of black smoke is being generated due to the fire on the fishing boat in Hallim Port."
