Minister Lee Sang-min visited a district in Mapo, Seoul.

He did not hesitate to criticize the police organization even in front of front-line officers.

[Lee Sang-min/Minister of Public Administration and Security: We should discuss how to solve this irrationality step by step, in which a certain background occupies more than 90% of high-ranking positions...

.]

He also pointed out the personnel structure where the number of senior executive positions has drastically decreased at a certain stage, making it difficult for them to get promoted.

At the same time, he repeatedly said that if a police support organization was created in the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, he would introduce a 'multiple rank system' to relieve the promotion backlog, and consider ways to fill 20% or more of the police officers with former police officers.

He also revealed the idea that the new work organization would be filled with about 20 people, 80-90% of which would be police.

[Lee Sang-min/Minister of Public Administration and Security: In my opinion, I am instigating you with very impure intentions…

.]

In the closed meeting that lasted for about 30 minutes, it was reported that police officers pointed out and asked questions such as 'Isn't the police system improvement plan going to go through the National Police Commission?

Inside the police network, comments such as "the minister who refused to meet with the chief of the National Police Agency to visit the district office and hear his opinion seems like unspoken pressure to silently follow the instructions," etc.

Minister Lee Sang-min said that he would visit Yeong and Honam additionally to hear the opinions of front-line police before the announcement of the final plan to improve the police system on the 15th.

However, he did not specifically disclose the plan for an interview with the police works council, which is the most objectionable.
