A 30-year-old man accused of brutally torturing and killing a kitten in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, has been arrested by the police.



Pohang Northern Police Station announced today (30th) that they are investigating a 31-year-old man on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act.



A is accused of torturing and killing a kitten at a cat feeding area near an elementary school in Yanghak-dong, Buk-gu, Pohang-si, around 1:30 pm on the 21st.



The dead cat was found hanging in the air with its neck tied with a string.

This cat is known as a young cat about 4-5 months old.



An elementary school student who was passing through an alley on Hagyeong-gil found a cat body and reported it to 112, and the police conducted an investigation based on CCTV and identified Mr. A.



It is reported that Mr. A is currently exercising the right to remain silent.



A police official said, "Mr. A is silent about the motive of the crime, so the investigation is difficult."

Earlier on the 23rd, the animal protection group 'Animal Rights Action Kara' announced the incident through SNS.



The group explained the situation at the time, saying, "A kitten was found horribly dead in downtown Pohang."



"What's even more terrifying is that the place where the incident occurred is near an elementary school," he said.
