When the Nissan Juke was launched in 2010, a controversy immediately erupted over its design.

Not everyone liked the crude front, but with the second generation since 2019, the small, 4.21 meter long SUV appears more pleasing, but remains an eye-catcher.

Diesel engines are no longer available, and the 1.0-litre three-cylinder with 114 hp is now joined by a hybrid variant from September that has 60 percent more displacement and, more importantly, 25 percent more power.

The petrol engine without turbo offers 94 hp, if you add the 49 hp of an electric motor, you get 143 hp.

Accelerating noticeably faster is therefore possible: the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 10.1 seconds, with the one-liter engine the procedure takes almost two seconds longer.

Even more important are of course the good 20 percent reduction in consumption that Nissan states.

According to the standard, the Juke Hybrid only needs five liters of Super per 100 kilometers, for the one-liter engine there are six liters in the data sheet.

The hybrid system includes a 1.2 kWh battery in the rear, which reduces the trunk volume from 422 to just 354 liters.

The space in the back seat remains the same.

A maximum of three kilometers of electric driving is possible with the small battery; it is charged either by the engine or by recuperation (collecting the braking energy).

However, Nissan claims that four-fifths of all routes in the city can be driven electrically.

The two engines come from Nissan, the automated transmission and the high-voltage starter are contributed by partner Renault.

The first test drives showed that the systems interacted well, the vehicle was always started electrically, with the combustion engine switching on later.

He can also drive the car alone.

The base price for the hybrid Juke is 31,090 euros as the N-Connecta version.

That's a good 5000 euros extra compared to the basic model with manual transmission.

The top variant costs 34,490 euros.
