A court has sentenced a Taekwondo leader to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing his student for 11 years.

According to the legal world today (20th), the 1st Criminal Division of the Suncheon Branch of the Gwangju District Court (Chief Judge Heo Jeong-hoon) sentenced A (47), who was handed over to trial for violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Youth for 12 years in prison, and He was ordered to complete 320 hours of sexual violence treatment program and to be restricted from employment for 10 years at child and youth-related organizations and welfare facilities for the disabled.

Person A was charged with sexual assault and physical abuse of victim B, a minor, several times over 11 years from 2008 to 2019.

In 2008, Mr. A molested and harassed Mr. B (then 8 years old) while sleeping in a tent in a valley in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do.

In 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2019, Mr. B was sexually humiliated and abused by force several times at his home, accommodation, and taekwondo studio.

In addition, he is also accused of assaulting several times for the reason that Mr. B did not show his cell phone text messages or did not appear at the Taekwondo studio.

A was found to have committed the abuse in a way that made him emotionally subordinate, taking advantage of the difficulties of Mr. B's home environment to say 'daddy' to him.

The court determined that Mr. A's act was a sex crime due to gas lighting (reinforcement of dominance through psychological domination) and grooming (psychological domination).

The court said, "Mr. B, who had a poor family environment, continued to molest and commit adultery for 10 years and committed the crime even after becoming an adult." Sentencing is inevitable,” he said, explaining the reason for the sentencing.
