The supermoon (“perigee-syzygy” of its scientific name) corresponds to a full moon coinciding with the greatest proximity between the lunar orbit and the Earth.
If it is on average located 384,400 km from us, the Moon was at that time “only” 357,658 km away.
The June Full Moon, known as the "Super Strawberry Moon", was observed tonight.
On June 14, the moon comes closest to Earth, marking the last "supermoon" of the year.

Thanks to the clear sky due to the current heat wave episode, many French people were able to take advantage of the astronomical phenomenon and immortalize it.
Luckily for them, those who missed the event won't have to wait long: the next supermoon will be on July 13, again during a full moon.
