A local Agricultural Cooperative employee was arrested by the police on charges of embezzling 4 billion won of company money.

The Gwangju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had urgently arrested an employee in his 30s on charges of embezzlement.

It is said that Mr. A has been in charge of depositing and withdrawing funds collected at each branch.

Mr. A is accused of embezzling 4 billion won of company money several times from an account under someone else's name around last April.

The local agricultural cooperative confirmed the embezzlement situation of Mr. A through its own investigation and reported it at 112 pm yesterday (14th).

As a result of the police investigation, it was determined that A committed the crime to make up for the loss of gambling and virtual currency investment.

The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A by applying the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.
