The Supreme Court's Office of Ethics Inspectorate recently launched a disciplinary procedure for those in charge of purchasing office furniture.



This is a follow-up measure following the results of the regular audit by the Board of Audit and Inspection, and in the audit report released on the 24th of last month, the Office of Court Administration and 11 courts across the country discovered that office furniture was inappropriately purchased.



The Board of Audit and Inspection said the court administration and 11 courts across the country signed a private contract according to the estimate suggested by the company without proper review of the actual transaction price for three years from 2018, purchasing expensive office furniture and wasting a total of 250 million won in budget. pointed out.



In addition, the fact that 12 institutions, including the Seoul Central District Court, signed a contract worth 3.1 billion won with a company that cannot directly produce furniture was also confirmed in this audit.



According to the current Small and Medium Business Market Support Act, when a public institution purchases a competitive product between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for more than 10 million won through a private contract, it is required to check whether the company can directly produce the product, etc., but this has been violated.



The fact that the product registered with the Public Procurement Service was delivered falsely without safety standards was also revealed. .



Accordingly, the Court Administration yesterday (14th) issued an official letter to the courts of each level to share the findings of the Board of Audit and Inspection and ask them to pay attention to their work.



An official from the Court Administration said to SBS, "We cannot disclose specific details such as those who will be disciplined." "We have prepared and implemented comprehensive measures to prevent recurrence, and are closely reviewing whether additional measures are necessary according to the audit results."



Meanwhile, the prosecution has also launched an investigation into the matter.



The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office of Anti-corruption Violent Investigation Division 1 is currently conducting investigations against related companies after receiving a complaint from the Board of Audit and Inspection.
