It was later revealed that there was another fatal accident separate from the fatal accident of a woman in her 20s at a spinal hospital in Gwangju, which had a history of entrusting a surrogate operation to a nursing assistant instead of a doctor.

According to the Gwangju Police Agency, the bereaved family of Mr. A in his 70s, who died after surgery at the hospital in question, sued the hospital for negligent manslaughter, saying, "I lost my life due to disc surgery."

Mr. A in his 70s underwent lumbar disc surgery at the hospital on February 17th, and she complained of her abdominal pain two days later and was transferred to the university hospital.

A was found to have an intestinal perforation and she underwent urgent surgery, and she underwent several additional surgeries while she was hospitalized for the next three months, but she eventually died on the 8th of last month.

Her bereaved family is claiming her medical accident, saying that she eventually died because the hospital knew that Mr. A was a patient with intestinal stenosis, but she chose the surgical method on her abdomen.

On the 2nd, a woman in her 20s who was undergoing neck disc surgery fell into a coma during the operation and died after being urgently transported to a large general hospital.

The woman's bereaved family also alleges a medical accident and sued the hospital to the police.

At this hospital, three doctors and three nursing assistants were convicted in the first trial on charges of performing surrogate surgery, such as surgical sutures, to a nursing assistant between 2017 and 2018, and appealed.

In addition, an additional complaint was received along with video evidence saying that three other doctors also performed surrogate surgery recently.

The police are investigating and securing related data, such as receiving random CCTV recordings of the operating room hallway and checking the list of medical staff and staff participating in the operation.
