An elderly person with dementia in his 80s who collapsed in the wild returned to his family safely with the help of 119 rescue dogs.

According to the Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters in Gyeonggi Province today (8th), Mr. A in his 80s, a patient with severe dementia living in Seongnam, did not return after leaving home on the 2nd.

At around 5 pm that day, the family reported the disappearance, and the search continued until the morning of the 3rd, the next day, but the whereabouts of Mr. A were unknown.

In the end, around 3 pm on the 3rd, rescue dog 'Jeonjin' belonging to the Special Response Team of the Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters and handler Kim Ki-sang Fire Department were additionally dispatched to the search operation.

Jeon-jin, who was trained to distinguish the smell of a motionless person, narrowed the search scope around the hills in Galhyeon-dong, Jungwon-gu, Seongnam-si, the presumed missing area, and finally found Mr. A, exhausted and collapsed under a tree in about an hour.

The place where Mr. A was found was surrounded by mountains, so if the search was delayed, it could be a dangerous situation.

Thanks to Jun Jin's performance, Mr. A safely returned to his family.

Firefighter Kim Ki-sang, who has been working with Jun-jin for two years, said, "I'm happy to be able to save precious lives with Jun-jin's excellent sense."

As a rescue dog with 5 years of experience, Junjin has performed 117 missions, including searching for missing persons and saving lives.

He recently placed 3rd in the team event at the 'National Fire Department Jangbae National 119 Rescue Dog Contest'.
