As Lotte Department Store Busan Gwangbok Branch, Aqua Mall, and Entertainment Building temporarily close their operations from tomorrow (June 1), about 3,000 employees working here are at risk of losing their jobs.

The city of Busan announced today that it has decided not to further extend the temporary use authorization period for these commercial facilities.

The approval period for these facilities, which have been operating with temporary use approval sequentially since 2009, has expired today.

As a result, about 800 stores in these facilities were closed indefinitely, putting about 3,000 employees at risk of losing their jobs.

The city of Busan cited the reason that the Lotte Tower project, which Lotte Shopping decided to build as a landmark along with these facilities on the site of the old Busan City Hall, was sluggish and the company's will to promote it was weak, so it could not be left to use only commercial facilities.
