• Sony WH-100XM5 review: the king of silence returns

With the registration of the realityOS

operating system

in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Apple has anticipated the next launch of the device that will work with said system, its

virtual reality

(VR) glasses.

The consumer products consultant

Parker Ortolani,

who works for specialized media such as The Verge and Polygon, has reported through his Twitter profile the discovery of a recently registered trademark as realityOS, which could be a new operating system developed by Apple destined for its VR glasses.

In the registry captures shared by the consultant, it can be seen that the brand encompasses different categories, such as

laptop '

hardware ', '

software

' or

peripherals

.

Likewise, the consultant recalled that both patents were originally filed on December 8, 2021, just two months before realityOS began to appear in Apple's source code.

In these images it can also be verified that the deadline for

filing the patent is June 8

, which would coincide with the development of the WWDC, two days after its start.

"Apple typically introduces trademarks for products announced at WWDC a day or two after the keynote. This would be a great coincidence," Ortolani said.

On the other hand, Ortolani has stressed that both patents are the only ones that belong to the company Realityo Systems LLC.

In order to avoid launch leaks, the American manufacturer often creates companies with other names to register its patents and maintain anonymity, according to 9to5mac.

Some of the examples that demonstrate this is Yosemite Research LLC, a fictitious brand used by Apple to register macOS days before WWDC 2021, where it presented the 12th version of its operating system, macOS Monterey.

In this way, the fact that this brand only has two products registered suggests that it would have carried out the same tactic to avoid publications in advance of the official presentation.

Finally, the consultant has found another coincidence in the registration of the realityOS trademark that would prove that this would be the operating system for a new 'hardware' of the company.

"The USPTO also indicates that the applicant has not presented any evidence of use anywhere," this specialized consultant has written to close the thread of tweets.

THE MIXED REALITY VIEWER, IN ADVANCED PHASE

In addition to these VR glasses that could be presented within the framework of WWDC 2022, Apple is working on a mixed reality viewer that is in an advanced phase, as reported by Bloomberg a few days ago.

Sources close to the technology company told this medium that, in recent weeks, Apple has accelerated the development of the operating system for VR with which this device will work, rOS.

In principle, the launch of this 'hardware' would take place either at the end of this year or in 2023, despite the fact that the company had the objective of making it known at this meeting with the developers.

However, the analyst specialized in Apple Ming Chi-Kuo has advanced through his Twitter account that it is unlikely that the technology manufacturer will choose to launch said viewer, as well as "the rumored realityOS this year".

"I am sure that if Apple announces the viewer and its operating system at WWDC, competing companies will immediately start imitation projects and freely copy Apple's great ideas to bring them to stores before Apple launches in 2023," he stressed. .
