This is the 42nd anniversary of the May 18th Gwangju Democratization Movement.
It is also a time of suffering for many victims.
After the Constitutional Court judged that it was unconstitutional to prohibit compensation for mental damage by law in May of last year, a line of lawsuits to hold the government responsible for various illegal acts followed.
Although court judgments in favor of the victims are continuing in the national damages lawsuit, the government continues to fight in court, saying that in fact, 'the Supreme Court decision has not come out'.
"Isn't it too harsh for those who have waited over 40 years to wait longer. It's not just for money. I hope the new government actively engages in dialogue."
