At around 12:10 pm today, a fire broke out at a furniture manufacturing plant in Gumi, Gyeongbuk.



The building that caught fire was a two-story reinforced concrete structure the size of three soccer fields with a total floor area of ​​which energy companies lived on the first floor and furniture companies on the second floor.



The fire department has issued the first stage of response, in which all personnel and equipment from the fire department are dispatched.



About 400 firefighters and three helicopters were mobilized to extinguish the fire, but a fire spread to a nearby factory as well.



As the smoke spread to residential areas, the city of Gumi sent a disaster message to nearby residents to close their windows and refrain from going out.

There were 15 employees in the factory at the time, but fortunately there were no casualties.

The police and fire departments plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of damage after extinguishing the fire.

At around 3:40 pm today, during the Children's Day event held at Dobong-gu Office in Seoul, the stage structure collapsed and women in their 40s and 80s were injured.



The fire department explained that the accident occurred when an aluminum shade curtain support fell onto the audience seats.



The two women with head injuries are said to be not life-threatening.

At around 2:20 pm today, a suffocation accident occurred on a chemical carrier in the sea near Maemuldo, Tongyeong, Gyeongnam.



One navigator who was collecting the sample lost consciousness and collapsed and was taken to the hospital by the Coast Guard rescue boat, but there was no life-threatening injury.



The Coast Guard is checking the circumstances of the accident, including compliance with safety rules.
