Kim Kyung-hyeop (58), a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, has been brought to trial on charges of not obtaining permission while purchasing land in a land transaction permission zone.

The Bucheon Branch of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office announced today (4th) that it had indicted two people, including Rep. Kim and lawyer A (74), without detention on charges of violating the Act on Real Estate Transaction Reporting, etc.

Rep. Kim is accused of not obtaining permission from the local government when signing a contract to purchase 660 m2 of land from Mr. A for 500 million won on May 19, 2020, in the land transaction permit zone in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do.

From December 26, 2018, in order to trade the land designated as a land transaction permission zone, it is necessary to report it to the local government in charge and obtain permission.

This land was designated as a public housing site project district in December 2019 and was included in the compensation target.

Rep. Kim said earlier, "I did not qualify as a farmer, so the land transaction was not permitted, so (land) was not sold."

He asserts that it is true that a contract for the sale of land has been made, but that the sale has not been completed.

An official from the prosecution said, "After the police forwarded the case, additional facts were confirmed and a supplementary investigation was conducted directly."
