Which video games are the most addictive?

This is the question that a study conducted by the Private Rehab Clinic, a detoxification center located in the United Kingdom, attempts to answer.

To achieve this, the researchers selected around fifty games and then analyzed the opinions concerning them on Metacritic, a rating site, reports the specialized site

They then counted the number of times the word "addictive" appeared.

This method allowed them to establish a track record dominated by

Rocket League.

The game published by Psyonix is, it seems, even more addictive than

Littlewood

and

Demigod

who complete the podium.

Next

come Stardew Valley

and

League of Legends.

Fortnite

is in the top 10, in 9th place.

Martin Preston, general manager of the clinic, sees a commonality among the most addictive games.

“Many of them have no predefined end (…).

This means that the player does not get to a point where they have 'completed' each challenge or task, which brings the game to a natural end and allows them to move on,” he explains in 25entertainment.ie .

In 2019, the WHO officially recognized excessive gaming as a disease characterized by "loss of control over gaming and an increased priority given to gaming."
