The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency's Metropolitan Investigation Team announced today (3rd) that they had booked former cop A and former Inspector B, who were dismissed for poor response at the time of the 'Incheon knife riot' incident, without detention on charges of negligence and sent them to the prosecution.

The police decided it was difficult to apply the charge of neglect of duty to the Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station and Mo district commander at the time when they were charged with the same charges.

The police said that on the 25th of last month, an investigation deliberation committee with lawyers and others was held and this decision was made by referring to the opinions of the members.

A police official explained, "The two police officers dispatched to the scene escaped the incident without protecting the victim or subduing the suspect.

"At that time, the chief and the district commander were not present," he said.

Former Inspector A and Inspector B were dispatched to the scene at the time of the knife riot that occurred in a villa in Namdong-gu, Incheon on November 15 last year. He is charged with leaving the scene without deterring the crime or protecting the victim.

The victim lost consciousness after being stabbed in the neck by a knife wielded by Mr. C, and underwent brain surgery.
