Madrid offers a thousand and one proposals in May,
becoming the epicenter of music, culture, sports, gastronomy... Here is a wide sample of
plans for all tastes.
GASTRONOMY
Taking advantage of the good weather to have a drink on a terrace is always a great option.
The area near the Lake of Casa de Campo has options such as the
Café del Lago
, with its proposal of classic snacks and main dishes;

, which has reopened its glass-enclosed gazebo with a six-course menu;

The Espacio Canalejas Food Hall
is located in the heart of Madrid

The
Country of Beers Festival
(May 27 to 29) will bring together more than 50 breweries at the Gran Teatro Caixabank Principe Pío Station that will offer their products to an audience that will be able to participate in tasting or pairing workshops.
CINEMA
One more year, the cinemas of the capital dress up once again for the
Film Festival
(from May 3 to 5) with an unbeatable offer of tickets at 3.50 euros.
Documenta Madrid
, one of the capital's flagship festivals, will hold its 19th edition from May 24 to June 5 with audiovisual productions from around the world.
SPORT
The
Mutua Madrid Open
will be played until May 8 with Garbiñe Muguruza and Paula Badosa in great form and Rafa Nadal, who could once again lift the winner's trophy at La Caja Mágica.
Nobody is able to combine entertainment, laughter and surprises like the
Harlem Globetrotters
.
A team of basketball artists that will take their show to the Wizink Center on May 8 to the delight of children and young people.
There, the
Real Madrid
basketball team will play their final games of the ACB regular league and
Movistar Estudiantes
hopes to achieve their desired promotion in category.
For football lovers, there is still a lot to decide in La Liga.
The great derby between
Atlético and Real Madrid
will arrive at the Wanda Metropolitano (May 8) in a month where

concert in support of the people of Ukraine,

ART AND EXHIBITIONS
The capital has stretched artistically speaking.
Proposals that have attracted a public eager for new experiences will close in May.
This is the case of the innovative
Klimt.
Immersive experience
, which shows the work of the great Austrian painter with the help of large-format projections at the MAD Madrid Digital Arts (until May 29);
Magellan and Elcano.
Without limits
, in the Ibercaja Delicias Space (until May 31), which allows you to experience a storm in the first person on the ship used by the legendary navigators on their return to the world, or
Stanley Kubrick.
The Exhibition
, which pays homage to the creator of

Hiperreal, the art of trompe l'oeil
will be at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum until May 22 with a brilliant compilation of almost 60 works that represent the best of a pictorial technique that deceives the eye by playing with architectural environments, perspective, shading and other optical effects.

May 2 Festivities
are celebrated this year in the capital and different towns in the Community with an extensive program that includes exhibitions, concerts, theater performances and many more activities.
This year, the Plaza de Dos de Mayo and the Plaza de Comendadoras emerge as two spaces where a large number of events for audiences of all ages will be concentrated, including concerts and dances.
The main bulk of the events of the
Fiestas de San Isidro
(May 15) is yet to be known, although it is expected that proposals can be recovered in the surroundings of the Ermita del Santo, without forgetting the stalls with silly donuts and the lists, a long-awaited classic.
And the posters of the bullfighting Fair of San Isidro
have already been announced
(from May 8 to June 5).
Bullfighting figures such as Morante de la Puebla, El Juli, Alejandro Talavante, Roca Rey and José María Manzanares will pass through the arena of Las Ventas.
At the same time that these festivities are celebrated, the
Design Market
will once again be a very fashionable event on the Paseo de Camoens on May 14 and 15.
Under the title Verbena 2022 there are planned concerts, areas for the sale of emerging design items and food-trucks.
And on May 14 the municipal swimming pools open.
THEATER AND MUSICALS
Kinky Boots
, the musical with Daniel Diges and Tiago Barbosa in which dreams of business greatness, friendship and respect are discussed, returns to the Calderón Theater.
María Castro, Miguel Hermoso and Daniel Muriel participate in
La alibi
, a suspense play that can be seen at the Teatro Bellas Artes.
And Aitana Sánchez-Gijón will go on stage at Naves del Español in Matadero with the play
Malvivir
, in which she offers herself an image of the Golden Age that is very different from the one we are used to.
IN FAMILY
The little ones have an appointment at the EDP Gran Vía Theater (from May 7 to 29) with

, a tribute to Frozen with themes from the Disney film.
No fan of miniature constructions should miss Plaza Río 2, the largest

in Europe, in which there is no shortage of reproductions of the Taj Mahal, a Titanic built with a million pieces or the statue of the Bear and the Strawberry Tree.
