Police arrested an employee suspected of embezzling tens of billions of won from Woori Bank.

The Namdaemun Police Station in Seoul announced today that at around 10:30 pm on the 27th, employee A surrendered and urgently arrested on charges of embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (Special Police Act).

Person A is known to be accused of embezzling 60 billion won in company funds between 2012 and 2018.

Mr. A is exercising his right to remain silent during the police investigation until now.

The amount of embezzlement is said to be in the range of 60 billion won, which is more than the previously reported 50 billion won.

The specific amount of embezzlement may vary depending on the circumstances of the investigation.

It was found that the police received a complaint from Woori Bank yesterday afternoon and started an investigation, and were taking measures such as bans from leaving the country.

A police official said, "Mr. A came to the police station and surrendered himself." "After investigating the details, we will review the application for an arrest warrant."

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that around 2 am today, Mr. A's younger brother also visited the police station.

It is said that Mr. A's younger brother exercised his right to remain silent after saying something to the effect of 'I know what your brother did'.

It has been determined that A's younger brother is not an employee of Woori Bank.

The police are also planning to call A's younger brother soon to investigate allegations of collusion.
