Deputy Chief Prosecutor Park Seong-jin volunteered for an emergency press conference about the bill that passed the National Assembly Judiciary Committee overnight.

Early this morning, when the bill prepared by the Democratic Party based on an agreement between the ruling and opposition parties passed the plenary session of the National Assembly Judiciary Committee, he appealed to National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok to stop the Democratic Party's enforcement of the bill.

The process in which the bill passed the Judiciary Committee also raised a problem.

He argued that it was procedurally unconstitutional that a decision was made in advance and passed by a majority vote overnight without any discussion of opinions or public hearings from related organizations.

Practical problems were also pointed out.

According to the bill, the prosecution can investigate a case sent by the police only within the scope of the same criminal facts. There is no way to force it.

A Supreme Prosecutor's Office official said that if this bill passes the plenary session, it is also considering legal countermeasures after the bill is passed, such as filing a request for a dispute over authority to the Constitutional Court or applying for an injunction to suspend the effect.
