Until just an hour ago, helicopters were spraying water one after another to the extent that the sky was noisy.

As it got dark, the helicopters were all withdrawn.

Instead, we are focusing on putting out the remaining fires by putting out firefighters and equipment on the ridges and valleys.

Fortunately, the wind has also greatly subsided at the level of 2-3 m/s, so the firefighting work is speeding up.

So far, the evolution rate is 90%.

The forest fire occurred in Woniljeon-ri, Hyeonbuk-myeon, Yangyang-gun, around 1:30 pm today.

It spread rapidly to the surrounding area with winds exceeding 15 m/s under the dry warning and strong wind warning, but at one time, about 20 residents evacuated to the village hall, etc.

The forestry and fire department succeeded in extinguishing the big fire late in the evening by putting in 16 firefighting helicopters and 1,000 manpower, including 4 super-large helicopters.

The area affected by this fire is estimated to be 60 ha.

Authorities plan to divide the forest fire area into four zones tonight and send about 390 people to continue the firefighting work.

In addition, 60 fire trucks and 70 firefighters will be deployed around private houses to prepare for the coming down of the village.

The strong wind advisory is also scheduled to be lifted late tonight, so the wildfire is not expected to spread significantly overnight.
