Ahn Hee-jung, a former governor of South Chungcheong Province, who is imprisoned on charges of sexually assaulting an attendant, was belatedly revealed that he and his wife, Min Min-won, divorced him in prison.

According to a media outlet on the 22nd, former governor Ahn and Mr. Min divorced by agreement after 33 years of marriage in September of last year.

They have two sons, but they are both adults, so custody and custody disputes are meaningless.

Rumors of their divorce are known to have flowed through the political circles since the end of last year.

However, it was only a rumor when Min attended Ahn's father's funeral in March.

A close aide of the two said, "Even though they divorced, they lived as a married couple for a long time, so Ms. Min was at the funeral of former Governor Ahn's father," and "It is not easy to completely cut off communication with children."

The two met as classmates in the 83rd year of Korea University and got married in 1989 after dating for 6 years.

Former Governor Ahn, while participating in the 2017 Democratic Party presidential primary, described Min at the time as "my first love and a friend of 30 years with a comrade bond."

In the past, Mr. Min also referred to former governor Ahn as "a husband like a teacher."

Currently, Governor Ahn is serving a sentence of 3 years and 6 months in prison for sexual assault by force at the Supreme Court in September 2019.
