Candidate Ho-young Jung for Minister of Health and Welfare announced today (20th) that he would have him undergo a re-examination within a few days at a trusted hospital to resolve the suspicion of his son's military service.

The candidate, who went to work at the office set up in the National Pension Service Building in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul this morning to prepare for the National Assembly's personnel hearing, said, "To resolve the suspicion of my son's military service that is raised without reason, I have to ask my son to be tested again at a trusted hospital within a few days. I will,” he said.

Candidate Chung, who brought out the prepared statement, said, "I have stated several times that I would receive a quick re-examination at a medical institution designated by the National Assembly, but discussions about designating a medical institution are not in progress." explained.

Regarding the claim that the non-existent term 'lumbar vertebra 6' appeared in his son's medical certificate and was suspected of being a false diagnosis, candidate Jeong said, "The medical term used strictly for lumbar vertebrae was made into a non-existent term to make false allegations of 'false diagnosis'. "This is a serious defamation of the doctor who issued the diagnosis, for me."

Candidate Jung explained that the diagnosis of his son's spinal disease was the result of a total of three times, including 2 MRI scans at Kyungpook National University Hospital and 1 CT scan at the Military Manpower Administration.

He said, "It is judged that there is no doubt about the objective evidence based on the results of the diagnosis by three different doctors."

However, candidate Chung said that he could not disclose when and at which hospital his son will be re-examined as it may cause inconvenience to the treatment site.

Candidate Jeong said, "I apologize for not being able to inform you of the date and time of the examination or the hospital in advance so that there may be no inconvenience to the medical staff or patients at the treatment site."

Candidate Jeong said that if the National Assembly designates a medical institution in the future, he will receive examinations again at that medical institution.

He emphasized, "My son was judged for military service without any preferential treatment according to strict procedures and served faithfully for 22 months.

Candidate Jeong explained that he did not know who the chairperson of the judgement was at the time when it was confirmed that the committee chairperson was one year older than the candidate at the time of transfer of the two children, raising suspicions about fairness.

Candidate Jeong replied, "I don't know who the judge was at the time, and as you know, our school is in its 115th year as a hospital, and the school will probably celebrate its 100th anniversary next year. Most of them are probably alumni."

Regarding the criticism that the explanations through press conferences so far did not fit the public's eye level, he said, "I would appreciate it if you could talk about it separately as it is an emotional story rather than an eye level."
