The previous day, about 47,000 people recorded less than 50,000 in 68 days, but as the holiday effect disappeared, it immediately rebounded.



However, the quarantine authorities said that the number of new confirmed cases has been continuously decreasing for the past four weeks since the third week of March.



In particular, the average number of new confirmed cases per day last week decreased by 31.8% compared to the previous week.



There are 834 patients with severe severe cases, and the number has remained below 1,000 for the sixth day.



The death toll was 130 people, with a fatality rate of 0.13%.



Last week, the number of severe cases and deaths also decreased by 1.9% and 16.9%, respectively, compared to the previous week.



The hospital bed utilization rate for severe COVID-19 is 46.1%, and about 645,000 patients are receiving home treatment.



Most of the domestic infected were found to be infected with Stealth Omicron.



Stealth Omicron's domestic infection detection rate jumped from 56.3% in the fourth week of March to 91.5% last week.



The quarantine authorities said that for the first time in Korea, two cases of XE mutation and one XM mutation, which are omicron recombination mutations, were confirmed and are conducting an epidemiological investigation.



The XE mutation has been reported in the UK, the US, Ireland, Taiwan, Thailand, and Japan since January, and it has been shown to propagate about 10% faster than the stealth omicron.



The XM mutation has been confirmed in 32 cases in 8 countries including Germany, Denmark and Austria since February, but no change in characteristics has been reported, the quarantine authorities said.
