In June of last year, a court decision was made to temporarily suspend the 8-month suspension of business that HDC Hyundai Development Company received in connection with the collapse of Hakdong, Gwangju.

The 4th Administrative Division of the Seoul Administrative Court (Chief Judge Kim Jeong-jung) accepted Hyundai Industrial Development's application on the 14th and decided to suspend the execution of the business suspension issued by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The court decided to suspend Hyundai Industrial Development's business suspension until the 30th day after the judgment of the first instance in the related case was pronounced.

Accordingly, Hyundai Development Company will be able to continue its business until a judgment on the merits is issued.

The court explained, "There is a risk of irreparable damage to the applicant due to the suspension of business, and an urgent need is recognized to prevent such damage."

This decision is about the 8-month suspension of business issued by the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 30th of last month.

Hyundai Development Company is also planning to file a lawsuit and an application for suspension of execution in the near future for an additional 8 months of business suspension issued on the 13th of this month.

Earlier, in June last year, in connection with an accident that killed 9 citizens during construction in the 4th district of Hakdong redevelopment in Gwangju last year, the Seoul Metropolitan Government suspended Hyundai Industrial Development for eight months on the 30th of last month on the grounds of 'poor construction'.

On the 31st of last month, a day later, Hyundai Development Company immediately filed a lawsuit to cancel the business suspension and applied for suspension of execution.

Afterwards, the city of Seoul decided to suspend operation of Hyundai Development Company for an additional 8 months on the 13th of this month for 'violation of subcontractor management obligations'.

This business suspension will take effect in December.
