RAS scientist Zeleny assessed the impact of sanctions on the development of the lunar program

The scientist, in a commentary to Izvestia, recalled that the launch of the Luna-25 apparatus would be the first landing in the polar region in the history of mankind.

According to Zeleny, if the project succeeds, it will be possible to hope for the next launches.

At the same time, the sanctions led to the cancellation of the ExoMars project by Roscosmos and the European Space Agency (ESA).

The interlocutor of the agency said that the planned launch for October 2022, most likely, will not take place.

“This is a big loss for both science and people.

But this decision was not made by us.

Both Russian and many European scientists consider this step to be a mistake.

But politics prevailed over common sense in this case,” Zeleny emphasized.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that the country intends to resume its lunar program and launch the Luna-25 robotic complex.

In addition, China and Russia reached a consensus on the text of an intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of a research station on the moon.
