• Companies and individuals have been increasingly victims of cyberattacks in recent years.

  • The Toulouse computer manufacturer Bleu Jour has developed Kubb Secure, in partnership with the computer security expert Freemindtronic, which allows end-to-end encryption.

  • A technological innovation presented Thursday and Friday during the Toulouse Hacking Convention.

It has the advantage of being stylish, silent, compact and made in France.

But soon, the Kubb, this 12 cm by 12 mini PC from the Toulouse-based company Bleu Jour, will also have a significant advantage over its competitors: it will allow its owner to secure his data thanks to an innovative solution that allows the transfer of end-to-end encrypted data.

To achieve this, the company, which has already manufactured more than 100,000 computers since its creation in 2014, has joined forces with the Andorran company Freemindtronic, which specializes in computer security.

The latter developed the Secure Card some time ago.

The size of a credit card, it encrypts text messages, emails and other files before transferring them to an identified recipient.

The latter will in turn be able to read this data using a similar card and an encryption key.

And this, via his computer or even his telephone equipped with a dedicated application and NFC technology which will allow you to connect the Secure Card.

"Since you have absolute control of your keys and your secrets, even if the system goes down the drain, and people may have access to your data at one time or another, you risk nothing because it are you the one who has the card and the key in your pocket.

I am therefore not dependent on the security of my computer, an email server or my telephone”, explains Jacques Gascuel, co-founder of Freemindtronic.

Presented at the Toulouse Hacking Convention

A plus that is far from being anecdotal at a time when cyberattacks have quadrupled in 2020 alone. Last year, many public hospitals were thus victims of ransomware.

But these threats are not limited to simple profit-making purposes, industrial espionage or even cyber-attacks, with geopolitical objectives as we have seen since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, are increasingly common.

The National Information Systems Security Agency pointed out in March that the number of proven intrusions into reported information systems had increased by 37% between 2020 and 2021, or now nearly three proven intrusions per day.

This innovative end-to-end encryption technology will be presented on Thursday and Friday at the Toulouse Hacking Convention, an event that brings together IT security experts over two days.

There, the presented Kubb Secure with the integrated card reader will be unveiled.

It remains to simplify the technology and the use before its final marketing.

“A computer in which we incorporate a card reader system, not many of us make it.

With the particularity of security, even less,” explains Jean-Christophe Agobert, co-founder of Bleu Jour, which plans to sell a package including its Kubb Secure and four Secure cards for 2,900 euros.

And thus provide a technical solution to protect all data, whether personal or business,
