A 30-year-old man who inadvertently pointed his finger at a pizza restaurant across the street and stabbed a passer-by in the eye has been sentenced to a fine.

The Cheongju District Court sentenced A, charged with negligence, a fine of 300,000 won.

In March of last year, while looking for a pizza place with his daughter in India in Cheongju, Mr. A saw a pizza place across the street and inadvertently reached out and pointed to it.

At that moment, Mr. A's finger pierced Mr. B's eye, which was passing by, and Mr. B suffered a corneal abrasion that required treatment for about a week.

At the trial, Mr. A argued that 'When he pointed his finger at the pizza place, he did not know that people would pass, and Mr. B's corneal abrasion was about to heal spontaneously without special treatment.' It is acknowledged that he neglected his duty of care not to confront, and that the victim suffered a disruption in his daily life for a considerable period of time.”
