Regarding the SBS report that a funeral home in Gyeonggi-do had left the coffins with the bodies at room temperature and loaded them in a van to avoid crackdowns, the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it had begun a full investigation into 1,135 funeral homes nationwide.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to identify the status of burial at funeral homes and, if a problem is discovered, take administrative action and criminal prosecution together with the local government.
Meanwhile, the city of Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, requested the police to investigate the funeral home where the body was left at room temperature for violating the burial law.
