Gyeonggi Seongnam Mayor Eun Soo-mi, who is suspected of illegally hiring people from the election camp to the city-affiliated organization, returned home early today (5th) after being investigated by the police for about 11 hours.

The anti-corruption investigation division of the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency summoned Mayor Eun as a suspect at 2 pm yesterday and conducted the investigation until 1 am today.

After the investigation, it is said that it took a considerable amount of time to read the report of the silver market.

The mayor is known to have mostly denied her allegations.

After completing the investigation, he left the Gyeonggi Nambu Office and did not answer reporters' questions.

This is the first time Mayor Eun, who has been referred to as a "superior" in connection with the allegation of illegal hiring, has appeared to the police.

The general view is that the summons to the silver market will end with a so-called 'one-shot' investigation that ends in one day.

It is not yet known whether additional summons will be made.

At the end of 2018, Mayor Eun is accused of being involved in illegally hiring people from her election camp to Seohyeon Library by colluding with Lee Mo, the former head of the situation at the end of 2018, and Mo, the former human resources manager, former Seongnam City Hall.

Lee and Jeon, who have already been indicted, were sentenced to 5 and 3 years in prison by the prosecution at the decision trial on the 24th of last month, respectively.

Sentencing is scheduled for the 14th of this month.

A police official said, "As the matter is under investigation, we cannot say anything."

Suspicion of illegal hiring at Seohyeon Library was first raised in September 2020 when a person from the election camp posted a petition to the Blue House.

Next, former secretary Lee Mo, who worked at the mayor's election campaign in Eun, filed a 'report of corruption in the recruitment of public institutions in Seongnam City' to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission in January last year.

Since then, the police have conducted a forced investigation, including raiding Seongnam City Hall and detaining those involved in the incident.
