A new omicron mixed mutation 'XE', which is known to increase at a faster rate than the stealth micron, was found in the UK and Taiwan, but the quarantine authorities said that there were no cases reported in Korea yet.

The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters today (3rd) said, "Currently, there is no confirmed domestic occurrence of the new mutations XD, XE, and XF. are doing,” he said.

Bang Dae-bon explained, "The World Health Organization and WHO have recently classified and managed recombinant mutations, including delta clones, into XD, XF, and XE, and the transmission power and severity characteristics of each are being studied."

According to the script, the XE mutation is a combination of BA.1, which refers to the existing omicron mutation, and BA.2, which is known as 'stealth omicron', and XD·XF is a combination of delta mutation and omicron mutation. form.

Bang Dae-bon said, "According to the initial analysis data in the UK, XE is showing an increase rate of about 10% faster than BA.

He added, "Currently, additional investigations are needed to determine the characteristics of the mutation, such as transmission power and severity."

In a weekly epidemiologic report published on the 29th of last month, the WHO named it 'XE', saying that a new hybrid mutation in which BA.

The WHO said that as of the time of writing this report, about 600 cases of infection had been identified, and it will continue to be classified as a sub-mutation of Omicron until differentiated characteristics such as severity and transmission are identified.

The British Health and Safety Agency also mentioned the XE mutation in its report on the 25th of last month and announced that 637 cases of infection were reported across the country.
