A police officer who was being investigated for soliciting a bribe from a junior police officer was handed over to the prosecution.

Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency announced today (1st) that they had criminally charged Inspector A from the Hanam Police Station and sent it to the prosecution on charges of bribery and violating the Solicitation and Graft Act.

Inspector A is accused of demanding 3 million won worth of money from two people, including Inspector B and Inspector C, who were working at the same police station earlier this year, saying, "I put a lot of effort into this four promotions."

Inspector A was found to have committed the crime the day after the promotion review committee was held.

However, it was found that Inspectors B and C refused Inspector A's request, and that Inspector A did not take any bribes.

It has not been confirmed whether Inspector A actually exerted influence over the two people's promotions.

It is known that the police were aware of Inspector A's misconduct, and took the action of dismissal on January 28th.

After the investigation, the police will soon finish the inspection of Inspector A and refer it to the disciplinary committee.
