▲ The missing summit stones.

"I'm having such a hard time, but seeing the happy climbers at the top makes me feel bad."

These are the words of the suspect who committed atrocities, such as removing and damaging the five summit stones in the Suraksan and Bulamsan areas.

The suspect, a male college student in his 20s, told the police that it was caused by the stress he received while working part-time.

According to the Namyangju Northern Police Station on the 31st, the police arrested and investigated a man in his 20s on charges of property damage, etc.

Person A is accused of damaging the summit stones such as Jubong, Dojeongbong, Dosolbong, Guksabong, and Bulamsan Aegibong this year and then throwing it away or cutting the safety rope installed on the rock of the train.

It is known that Mr. A started mountain climbing to relieve the stress he received while working part-time last year.

During the police investigation, he said, "I accidentally pushed the top stone, but it moved so I started to roll it and drop it," he said.

He said, "I was in such a difficult situation, but seeing the happy climbers at the top made me feel bad," he said.

The police are investigating the detailed circumstances of Mr. A, while confiscating his cell phone to examine the exact motive of the crime.

Earlier, in the middle of this month, at Suraksan Mountain, the summit stones erected at Jubong, Dojeongbong, and Dosolbong disappeared and all six safety ropes installed on the train rock near the summit of Suraksan were damaged, so the police launched an investigation.

Also, at the end of this month, the summit stone disappeared from nearby Mt. Bulam.

Accordingly, the Uijeongbu Police Station and Namyangju Northern Police Station searched for the culprit while exploring areas such as Mt. Surak, but there were no CCTVs near the top of the mountain, so the investigation was difficult.

Then, based on eyewitness testimony that there was a suspicious hiker carrying equipment such as a crowbar, after tracking down, Mr. A was caught.

It is known that A denied the crime, but only then admitted the charge when the police applied for a search and seizure warrant.

A police official said, "At this time, Mr. A has returned home, and we plan to investigate again later."
