As the death toll continues to increase recently, we delivered the news yesterday (29th) that some funeral homes are not putting the bodies in a designated place, but are just leaving them outside.

After the report, the local district office cracked down on the scene, but this time the coffin with the body was hidden in the vehicle and caught.

Reporter Han Seong-hee reported exclusively.

The rear door of the van is open, and five wooden coffins are stacked inside the car.

The two coffins lie on their side.

After the SBS report that the coffins with the bodies were left at room temperature in the mortuary, the funeral home company hastily moved them into the vehicle.

[Informant A: I think the funeral hall itself had an admission.

Even the coffin was put in the car.] When

the staff of the district office undertook an on-site investigation today, the funeral home hid the existence of the vehicle itself.

It is said that the bodies left at room temperature have already gone through the burial and cremation procedures and are not left behind.

[Informant A: The ward office staff came and just checked and went, right.

((Explain the funeral home) As soon as you hear the story?) Yes, check it out for a while.]

Eventually, the fact that the body was hidden in the car was revealed, and the district office under the jurisdiction started a re-investigation.

It is a funeral home vehicle in which coffins with dead bodies are piled up.

It is said that among the corpses in the back compartment, there are those of the deceased who have been admitted but are still being buried.

The funeral home said that it would move the body to a place where there is a refrigerator and provide a refrigerator that is not enough.

[Chairman of the funeral home: I will transfer it right now, there is something out of the mortuary. There is a refrigerator.

I'll move it right away, sorry.]

The ward office first imposed a fine of 1.5 million won on the funeral home.

[Goyang City Hall Manager: Regarding the violation today (a corpse left in a vehicle), the Ministry of Health and Welfare will receive an accurate interpretation of the authority and take administrative action, strongly.]

The funeral industry says that the ambiguous mortuary management regulations are the problem.

There is a rule that the body must be kept at 4 degrees below zero, but there is no provision that it must be placed in the refrigerator.

[Park Il-do/President of the Korea Funeral Association: I tried (checked) together with the association and the government, but I don’t like to go into the morgue or the admission room to see it.

Because of that, it is also a blind spot.]

The district office has announced that it will check the status of the bodies at nine funeral homes in the district every day.
