A former three-term lawmaker who has been investigated by the police for stealing clothes from a department store has been acquitted of 'no charges'.

Ansan Danwon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced today (29) that it has decided not to appeal the former member of the National Assembly A, who was charged with theft.

Person A has been investigated by the police on charges of stealing a T-shirt worth 30,000 won from a clothing store in a department store in Danwon-gu, Ansan-si around 7:25 pm on the 24th of last month.

Mr. A has denied the allegations, saying that unpaid clothes among the purchased clothes were in the bag.

At that time, Mr. A bought several pieces of clothes worth 300,000 won at the store, put them in a shopping bag, and was caught by an employee when an alarm sounded at the entrance of the store.

As a result of the investigation, it was confirmed that the reason the alarm sounded was that the cashier placed some of the clothes that Mr. A had paid for normally in the shopping bag without removing the anti-theft tags.

However, it was reported that during the shopping process, A did not put one t-shirt worth 30,000 won in the same shopping bag as the normal clothes, but put it in a separate shopping bag at another store.

The police closely examined the CCTV of the store and shopping history to reveal whether Mr. A had any intentions.

A police official said, "I cannot tell you about the details of the investigation."
