The two main suspects in the murder of rugby player Federico Martin Aramburu have been arrested.

The alleged perpetrator of the shots, Loïc Le Priol, was arrested in Zahony, a Hungarian region bordering Ukraine, as he tried to go to the country to fight according to his words.

End of the run for suspects in the murder of former rugby international Federico Martin Aramburu.

After the indictment of a woman earlier this week, two members of the GUD, a far-right group, were arrested.

The first, Romain Bouvier, was arrested on Wednesday March 23 in Sablé-Sur-Sarthe.

The second, Loïc Le Priol, the alleged perpetrator of the shots, was arrested in Hungary when he was trying to go to Ukraine.

The intention to fight in Ukraine?

Loïc Le Priol was checked by the Hungarian police while driving a car not far from the border post of Zahony, a border region with Ukraine.

He was the subject of a European warrant for murder and therefore, when the Hungarian police put him on file, the alert was given.

This member of the GUD was found in possession of three knives, a bulletproof vest and a helmet.

He explained that he had military training and intended to go and fight in Ukraine.

Did he have drop points on the spot?

Did he want to join the Azov battalion, these nationalist Ukrainian soldiers, admittedly marginal, but which have aroused the fascination of the European ultra right since 2014?

Investigation into the racist dimension of the murder

These hypotheses are not yet ruled out.

"We are waiting to be able to hear his version", soberly comments a source close to the investigation.

Loïc Le Priol must be handed over to the French judicial authorities in the coming days.

The examining magistrate will question him on the motivations for the murder, and in particular the racist dimension which surrounds the circumstances of this tragedy.

After the altercation at the exit of the bar, the two suspects returned by car to find the group of the victim to commit what looks like a punitive expedition.
