A postman in his 20s who died of myocarditis after being vaccinated against COVID-19 was recognized for his job.
The Ministry of Personnel Management held a civil servant accident compensation deliberation committee and recognized the official accident of postman A, who died three days after receiving the second dose of the vaccine in August last year.
The National Forensic Research Institute concluded that the myocarditis occurred after the vaccination, as there was no cardiovascular disease in the medical checkup conducted before the vaccination of Mr. A.
The Ministry of Personnel also considered that the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recognized the relationship between the vaccine and myocarditis, the cause of Mr. A.
This is the first time that he died after being vaccinated and that it was recognized as an official accident.
