Meta Companies (Facebook), becomes strong in Spain: 2,000 jobs, the metaverse laboratory in Madrid and a data center from La Mancha
Meta is considering including support for NFT within its popular social network, Instagram.
Mark Zuckerberg
himself
has confirmed this during the South by SouthWest congress in Texas, during a panel on the metaverse held this week.
"We're working on getting NFTs on Instagram in the short term. I'm not ready to announce exactly how that's going to be, but in the coming months, NFTs will be able to be showcased, and I hope eventually even mint new ones within the app," Mark Zuckerberg explained.
NFTs are digital certificates of authenticity that, through blockchain technology, are associated with a single digital file.
This allows a digital file, in principle easy to duplicate, to be considered as unique or original.
NFTs have become incredibly popular within the world of art and music, as they allow a creator to sell digital pieces with the same properties as if they were selling a physical work.
In the case of Meta, it is an expected move.
Last December
Adam Mosseri,
head of Instagram, already hinted that his team was considering different ways to introduce NFT within the Instagram experience.
For Meta, in any case, the bet is much bigger than this social network.
His long-term strategy is to dominate the so-called metaverse, the idea that the evolution of the current Internet will be a digital world to which we will connect with virtual or augmented reality glasses.
In that context ,
NFTs could be useful for uniquely designating virtual objects
, allowing them to be bought and sold or moved between virtual spaces controlled by different companies.
