Three people died when a fishing boat that was catching clams overturned off the coast of Namhae, Gyeongnam.

It is presumed that the boat overturned because it could not bear the weight of the sand being dragged into the net.

Reporter Jeong Ki-hyung of KNN covered it.

Toward the overturned ship!]

The accident occurred around 10:30 am today, with six crew members on board.

Three people fell into the sea and were rescued with the help of a nearby fishing boat.

However, the other three were trapped inside the capsized boat.

They were rescued in about 45 minutes, but all were unconscious.

There was no air (air pocket) even in the vicinity of the three of them.]

He was rushed to the hospital, but three people, including 78-year-old A, eventually died.

It is presumed that she could not bear the weight of the muddy sand being pulled up together in the net.

In 2017 and 2018, there were a series of accidents where a clam fishing boat capsized on the southern coast for similar reasons.

The Coast Guard believes that the maximum number of people on board of the wrecked fishing vessel is 5, which is more than 1, and is also examining whether or not the load capacity is exceeded.
