During the presidential election period in their 20s, a survey result showed that SNS users perceived gender and generational conflict as serious, but felt less serious about regional conflict than before.

As a result of surveying 1,69 men and women of all ages who are social media users on the 3rd to 6th of this month at Macromill Embrain, an online research company specializing in online research, 'Koreans', a foundation under the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, surveyed 1,069 men and women of all ages. The type of conflict appeared to be gender conflict.

This survey was conducted with the purpose of analyzing changes in the perception of SNS users during the presidential election.

The survey was conducted in a way that compared and analyzed the results of the four days before the 20th presidential election with the same survey results conducted in December 2020 (1,75 men and women nationwide).

In the question of evaluating the perceived severity of each conflict type on a 5-point scale, respondents in this survey gave an average of 3.92 points for gender conflict.

Compared to the 3.77 point at the time of the 2020 survey, it has risen the most.

Generational conflict also increased from 3.75 points in 2020 to 3.85 points this time.

On the other hand, regional conflict fell from 3.68 to 3.60.

It was analyzed that there were no significant differences between ideology, rich and poor, and labor-management conflict.

Professor Jo Jung-yeol of Sookmyung Women's University's College of Social Sciences, who conducted the survey, said, "There was no significant difference in traditional class conflict, but regional conflicts that have shaken Korean politics since the presidential election in the 1970s have decreased than usual even during the election period. Conflict increased most markedly during the election period,” he explained.

When the results of this survey were analyzed by dividing the results into high and low users according to the frequency of SNS use, high users of SNS who use SNS several times a day or less perceived 'the conflict in our society is severe' than low users who use it less than once a week. It was found that there is a strong tendency to believe that SNS communication and discussion are helpful in resolving social conflicts.
