• Health context obliges, the market of the maintenance of the grounds jumped these last two years.

  • Among the new tools available, a vacuum cleaner like the Dyad from Roborock is proving to be full of promise.

  • Test in support, the device is very effective, even if it is a little heavy and can only pass on hard floors.

Inhale, breathe!

Inhale, breathe!

The French would have become real household addicts.

The successive confinements due to Covid-19 have pushed consumers to pamper their interiors and to equip themselves massively with devices to maintain their floors... if they cannot go on vacation.

Robot vacuum cleaners and broom vacuum cleaners are on the rise, according to Gifam, and are seeing their sales jump.

And we see that more and more vacuum cleaners, such as the Dyad from the Roborock brand, are appearing on the market.

With the approach of the traditional big spring cleaning, we tried it.

Heavy but manageable

Roborock?

No, it's not the name of a rocker robot, but that of a Beijing manufacturer who, since 2014, has specialized in the development of vacuum cleaners.

Its models have been marketed in Europe since October 2021. The Dyad is the brand's first vacuum cleaner and mop.

Like the VB100 broom vacuum cleaners from Kobold, or the CrossWave Cordless Max from Bissel, the device which is sold around 400 euros claims to do a complete cleaning by vacuuming dirt, washing and even drying the floor.

Clean space?

Dirt sucked up and filtered

Unpacked, the Dyad surprises with its weight: 5.2 kg, which is not nothing.

It is necessary to add the mass of water (with or without cleaning liquid) which should be poured into its upper tank with a capacity of 620 ml.

This water will then be conveyed to the washing brushes.

Rotating in the opposite direction (from the outside towards the centre) they attract dust and detritus which are instantly sucked up.

Conducted to the lower tank (with a comfortable capacity of 850 ml), this dirt is filtered by a sort of sieve and separated from the dirty water.

And it works very well (even if the strainer is a little hard to extract to be emptied).

Our tests, in particular carried out with cat kibble spread on the floor of our kitchen, showed that in a single pass, these elements were sucked up.

For its part, the washing is rather effective (evidenced by the color of the water collected after our tests).

The Dyad moistens more than it wets the floor, giving it a lightning-fast drying time.

It is nevertheless possible to dry it by pressing a button: from then on, the Dyad's suction system is reversed, and turns into a breath.

No “parking” position

This device is very comfortable to use despite its heavy weight.

The 180° radius of action of its brush greatly adds to its maneuverability.

If the brushes arranged edge to edge wash perfectly along the baseboards, it remains very difficult to venture under most furniture, thickness of the brush too important obliges.

And a major regret: the Dyad does not offer a “parking” station.

So he can't stand on his own.

It is therefore still necessary to place it against a piece of furniture or a wall if you want to take a break in cleaning it.

A little extra: on the control screen, a red light indicates that the vacuum cleaner has detected a dirtier area and that it is necessary to insist on this specific location.

For its part, the battery life is announced at 280 m2 of cleaning, or about 45 minutes.

Maintenance required

Supplied with a fairly practical charging base, the vacuum cleaner can clean its brushes automatically (it will be necessary to run them empty).

An operation that will not be sufficient after several uses, the brushes regularly needing to be disassembled and washed and rinsed under tap water.

For its part, the dirty water tank must be emptied after each use.

This is a small constraint that is found on all vacuum cleaners.

Finally, be careful: the Dyad can only be used on hard floors (tiles, linos, see parquet), but in no case on rugs or fitted carpets.

Decidedly, the ultimate maintenance device does not exist…
