The wildfire that started in Uljin, Gyeongbuk is spreading throughout Gangwon-do.

In particular, yesterday (the 5th), as a forest fire moved to Donghae, an evacuation order was issued to residents.

We connect reporters who are on-site.

Reporter Jae-Sung Mo, how is the current state of the forest fire?

<Reporter>

Yes, now I am in Mangsang-dong, Donghae-si.

The site is still full of a musty smell, and you can see red flames everywhere.

To prevent it from spreading to private homes, the fire department has built a line of control.

However, a strong wind is still blowing in the direction of the private house, and the flames continue to spread in the directions of Sinheung-dong and Bicheon-dong, Donghae-si.

The fire in the East Sea has spread to the city center and caused great damage.

To prevent the wildfire, nearly 2,000 people and five firefighting helicopters were put in a day yesterday, but it could not stop the spread to private houses, and 31 buildings were left in ashes.

Donghae City has designated Mangsang-dong, Balhan-dong, and Mukho-dong as evacuation areas, and hastily issued an evacuation order.

About 560 evacuated residents are currently distributed in six temporary shelters.

It's getting dark now, so instead of extinguishing the fire, we have built up to the 6th line of defense and started to stop the spread.

The fire that started in Okgye-myeon, Gangneung-si, spread with the wind and spread to the East Sea.

It is estimated that 2,100 ha of forest was lost in the East Sea alone.

The nearby forest fires in Gangneung and Samcheok have also been struggling to extinguish a major fire.

Traffic is still being controlled.

The 14.8km section from Okgye IC to Donghae IC on the Donghae Expressway has been controlled, and railways along the East Coast of Gangwon, such as KTX and Mugunghwa, have been suspended or shortened.

The forestry and firefighting authorities plan to put out equipment and manpower, including 30 firefighting helicopters, only in the East Sea and Gangneung areas as soon as the day dawns to put out the big fire.
