Yes, the forest authorities were planning to catch a major fire in the morning of today (the 5th), but they did not catch the main fire in the afternoon.

That's why the forest authorities put up an evolution before sunset, but as you can see behind me, there's still a lot of hazy smoke coming out.

The large-scale firefighting work started with the sunrise at 6:49 am today, but it was determined that there are still three large fires remaining in the Samcheok forest fire.

The Korea Forest Service and firefighting helicopters are constantly transporting water from the Nogokcheon Stream and spraying it on the site, but it does not seem easy to catch the fire spreading due to strong winds.

The wildfire that came down to the village overnight burned some of the private houses in Gopo Village, and the damage is increasing one after another.

Villagers who have been evacuated are returning to their homes, but in some places there is no electricity, so it is difficult to lead a normal life.

In addition, 57 firefighting helicopters and 88 firefighting vehicles from the Korea Forest Service and firefighting services have begun to extinguish, and about 1,400 people including firefighting teams, forest firefighting teams, and the military and police are also fighting the fire.

Currently, the fire department is in charge of large fires coming down to private houses, and specialized forest fire extinguishing teams are in charge of cleaning up residual fires.
