The obligation to self-quarantine for those who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 will be lifted from next month if a family member living with them is confirmed.

Currently, only those who have been vaccinated are excluded from quarantine, and those who have not been vaccinated are quarantined for 7 days.

Minister of Health and Welfare Kwon Deok-cheol appeared on the radio today (25th) and announced that the guidelines will be changed so that families living with Corona 19 who are being treated at home will manage the quarantine themselves.

Minister Kwon said, "Right now, we are very strict about the families living together, but now we are working on a change that allows the test to be done on the 3rd or 7th day and the quarantine itself."

Currently, the family living together with the confirmed person is subject to 'manual monitoring', which is conducted without quarantine if the inoculation has been completed, and is tested if symptoms of COVID-19 are suspected.

Prime Minister Kim Bu-gyeom also said at the meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters today that the families of confirmed patients will be managed by switching to a passive monitoring system from next month, and asked for regular inspections even for passive monitors.

Meanwhile, Minister Kwon said that the number of confirmed cases is expected to be about 270,000, saying that the omicron mutation epidemic will peak in the middle of next month and then go on a decreasing trend based on the results of analysis by experts.
