Police caught a drunk driver who ran away after hitting and killing a high school student while crossing a crosswalk.



Gyeonggi Gwangmyeong Police Station announced that they are investigating a 40-year-old man A on charges of manslaughter and fugitives under the Act on Aggravated Punishment for Specific Crimes.



Mr. A is suspected of running away after hitting a high school sophomore while crossing a crosswalk on a road in Soha-dong, Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province at around 10:40 pm yesterday (15th).



The victim was taken to hospital, but died.



The police arrested Mr. A, who was stopped on a nearby highway, as a current criminal within about two hours of arriving at the scene.



A's blood alcohol level was measured at the level of license suspension.



The police plan to use the Widmark formula to inversely estimate Mr. A's exact drinking status.



It is known that Mr. A is currently refusing to give a statement about the circumstances of the crime.



The police are planning to apply for an arrest warrant for A.
